How Tattoo Find Works! When you take your pet into the vet to be altered (spayed or neutered), he-she receives a tattoo id number in one of it's ears to indicate that the animal has been altered and serves as a means of tracking the vet who did the operation. The problem with this system, is that if your pet is lost 200 miles from home, in the same state, then tracking the vet can be difficult and in most cases, almost impossible! The reason for this is that the id tattoo is not registered state wide and can only be found if the pet is found in the vacinity of the vet who did the alteration.
